Wellington Cemetery:

Located on Consecon Street, Wellington, this cemetery consists of two sections. The older section is on the east side of the road and the newer portion is on the west side. Only the latter portion is still in operation. A Quaker Meeting House built between 1800 and 1821 once stood on the grounds of the older section; this building was taken down when a new brick Meeting House was erected in Wellington in the early 1800s. Trustees of the West Lake Monthly Meeting of Friends sold the land to the Wellington Cemetery Company in Part 39b Wellington Cemetery: 1921. The cemetery was opened in 1825. Daniel Reynolds (1750-1826), the first white settler in this district is remembered on a special marker in the cemetery.

Anna Melissa "Annie" Casselman was born on June 16, 1883 in Madoc, Ontario. Her parents were Francis Casselman (buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in Bancroft, Ontario) and Maria Finch (buried in Lakeview Protestant Cemetery in Madoc, Ontario). Anna married Private Alonzo Miles Wanamaker on February 10, 1898 in Frankford, Ontario. He and Anna were the parents of James Albert, Margaret May, Clifford, Mary Viola, Ethel Lavina, Verna Cora, Henry, Wilfred William, Clayton Charles, Dorothy, Erma Belle & Donald Ray Wanamaker. It's important to note that several of the children's headstones and death information such as obituaries etc., have their name listed as Wannamaker (two n's). Anna died on May 16, 1937 at her home in Wellington, Ontario at the age of 53.
