Notes

Dorwin Lionel Smith was born on December 7, 1899 in Wellington, Ontario. He was the son Samuel Denis Spencer & Nellie Amanda "Mandy" Smith who are also buried here in Carrying Place Cemetery in Row 16. Dorwin attested into the 21st Battalion of Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force (C.E.F.) on March 29, 1915 in Picton, Ontario. He served in WWI and also served four years overseas working his way up to rank of Lieutenant Corporal. His Regimental Service Number was 412681. Dorwin was also a retired Commissionaiare at C.F.B. Trenton, a member of Consecon United Church and a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Past President of Consecon Legion Branch 509. Dorwin married Bertha Irene Mattis on March 13, 1926 in Consecon, Ontario. They were the parents of Edna Lillian Smith (buried here in Carrying Place Cemetery), Evelyn Fern "Ev" Smith (buried in Carrying Place Annex Cemetery) and Nora Irene Smith (Died in 2023 in Nova Scotia and Cremated there). Dorwin was a Carpenter by trade. He died on June 2, 1970 at the Trenton Memorial Hospital at the age of 70 after being in ill health for several years.
